Achieving lasting umbilical cord decontamination and sustainable stem cell sourcing by combining plasma-functionalized liquid and ultrasound - dataset

The publication investigated the decontamination process of porcine umbilical cord tissue using plasma functionalized liquid alone and in combination with ultrasound. The challenge was to achieve lasting and complete decontamination without damaging tissue integrity because viable mesenchymal stem cells were extracted in the following step. The dataset contains numbers of counted colony forming units (CFU) of cultured microorganisms after the different iteration steps of tissue decontamination. Each worksheet summarizes the numbers of one figure.

PLexc²

PLexc² is two stage microwave plasma source. The first stage is passive self-igniting under atmospheric pressure conditions in the working gas air. It is powered with 1.3 kW microwave power and delivers charge carriers to the second stage powered with 3.0 kW. Additional gas injection between the stages increases the total flow to 60 to 80 slm.

AURA-WAVE (Sairem)

AURA-WAVE is an Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) coaxial plasma source. It has been designed to be self-adapted once the plasma ignited. A magnetic field combined to the electromagnetic wave allows the creation of plasma at low pressure due to Electron Cyclotron Resonance. AURA-WAVE microwave plasma source has been designed to sustain microwave plasma over several decades of pressure, i.e. from 10⁻⁴ mbar to a few 10⁻² mbar and from a few watts depending on the gas.

wINPlasLab

The wINPlasLab is used to treat a liquid in a beaker with transient spark discharges. During the treatment, the beaker is placed underneath the electrodes, and by adjusting the liquid level in the beaker, the distance between the electrodes and the water surface can be set. An integrated magnetic stirrer provides permanent mixing of the sample substance, and the utilization of leakage transformers for the high-voltage supply provides an inductive current limitation. The system is intended for the treatment of various liquids with different conductivities.

System and method for treating surfaces of bodies, in particular for wound treatment (Vacuum Therapy)

The invention relates to a system for treating surfaces of bodies, in particular a vacuum dressing, comprising at least one attachment means (5a) for fluidic attachment of a negative-pressure generator for generating a negative pressure in a volume that can be positioned at the surface of a body, and at least one means for plasma generation (8, 8a, 15) with which the volume in which the negative pressure can be generated can be at least partially filled with plasma or a plasma-activated medium.

Device, system, and method for antimicrobial treatment, method for producing the device, and computer program (Laparoscope)

The invention relates to a device, to a system, and to a method for antimicrobial treatment during performance of operations in bodies, to a method for producing the device, and to a computer program. A device (11) is provided for antimicrobial treatment during performance of operations, in particular minimally invasive operations, in bodies. Said device comprises a main body (1) for partial introduction into a body and at least one plasma source (12) arranged in at least one portion of the main body (1).

Device for biologically decontaminating percutaneous access points and method therefor

Disclosed is a device (1) for biologically decontaminating percutaneous access points or the stomata of patients, by means of a plasma generator (4) for generating a decontaminating plasma adjacently to a treatment surface (3) of the plasma generator (4). In order to at least partially surround a percutaneous access point or stomata, the treatment surface (3) is curved to be adaptable and can be laid against the percutaneous access point or stomata.
